"All that we see or seem, is but a dream within a dream"...

How 'bout that for starters... But of course there's more to dreams than that. The true dreams are the precognitive ones, maybe one or two of you above have recapitulated such ones. Me myself I have seldom the peace to lie still after waking, trying to remember. Maybe it's a thing to practice.

I come to think about german author Ernst Jünger. In his diaries he recapitulates dreams in vivid detail... something to strive for.

Once before stated this: the conscious mind maintains the identity of the person in the body... apart from the great consciousness.
To speak as a person, the conscious mind says "I am...this. I am that..." and can identify the body, emotions, pain, daily activity and history of the body.
The subconscious mind lies between conscious and the great collective. The subconscious mind has a ton of information but no way to quantify it except through the conscious mind.
If you ask the subconscious mind a question, it can answer. Give it a job to do and it will do it upon demand. Unfortunately the subconscious cannot organize itself. It is confused about dates, times, and whether 1950 comes before 1952... The subconscious cannot linearly deal with time; it dreams tomorrow and yesterday juxtaposed. So knowing the future is part of the known...as well as remembering pasts...and being in several places at the same time...

cool thread seeker... :)

i love the dream state and believe it reveals much on many levels... :)

maybe one could ask here what is the difference between 'waking' dream and 'sleeping' dream... ;)

one could also consider who is it that juxtaposes identities on 'others' wether waking or sleeping... what thought does not originate from the sea of conciousness??? and what does this imply???

***********

"The Dreaming means our identity as people. The cultural teaching and everything, that's part of our lives here, you know?... it's the understanding of what we have around us."

My cats and dogs communicate in dreams...speaking like people...we have long conversations..in which they inform me how they are doing, what they need, or what's going on with them...
I dream of a visit from my mother (dead now 10 years) in which we speak as if nothing has changed.... Once a month my family and I share a dream... dreams are not just "I's" but they do channel through me...
Dreams permit me to get updates with people I've not seen in years.

I once had a marvelous dream. I had a dilemma I wished to solve and took my dilemma to bed with me... In the middle of the night, my dream solved the dilemma. I dreamed I was in the center of a circle of 12 "me's", each with a different opinion. Each me told me the reason for their solution; each me was just as valid as the next. I, sitting in the center of the circle listened to each of "my" opinions and chose the one best respresenting me and that was my solution when I awakened the next morning.
Some dreams are not just dreams. Some are visits from other personalities and the other does have a message... Yes and I do dream of others as well. I am not the only I in my dreams... Some dreams are multi-levelled as well, with one event on the top level, connected to a second underlying event (perhaps at another place in time) connected just below with another underlayment...like layers of carpet on a floor.

Analysing the dreams gives a strong insight into "how ONE becomes MANY".

A dream is like a drama in which several characters take part. Scientific explanation of dream is that the "story" & the "characters" in a dream are creation of mind taking impressions from our expreriences in real life in the past.

Now, let's analyse this "dream" thing.

All dreams are created by "me", within "me", wholly with the materials of "me" ( stimulants may be from outside but they are just stimulants, actual thing has to be created out of "me" only), therefore, the dream cannot be anything other than the "me". So whatever comes in the dream is just a part of "me"( or say, different manifestations of "me") .... that includes the story, the characters, their specific roles, dialogues etc. So, just one "me" manifests itself into "many" which apparently look completely different.

Now, the greatest surprise is not this. Say, in a dream there are two characters ... one "me" & the other "my friend". The "me" in the dream gives a sense of real "me" in the dream too but not "my friend" in the dream. "My friend" in the dream acts as a separate individual on his own ... in fact, "he" sometimes does things which not expected by "me". How does he do like that ? If he is just a charater of a story written by my mind, his act should be known to "me" ... which is not the case.

So, there must be an "I" in him too, apparently different from my "I", to be able to act in such an indendent manner. If my "I" is not making him "live" & a "separate entity" who/what does it ? Where does this seemingly independent "I" come from ? This must come from "me" as there is no one else !

There is another surprise too. Though there is already an "I" in the dream, there is another who is watching the whole dream ... as if the "I" has got divided into two. Many a times, the "I" of the dream doesn't exactly behave as the "I" in reality.

.... How can "I" play multiple roles & maintain separate individualities all at the same time. How is it logically explained ? The only logical explanation can be that what appears as "I" is capable of manifesting itself in multitude maintaining separate individualities in its different roles, all at the same time which we are unable to understand.

Doesn't that gives an insight into the mystery behind this whole "creation" ?

How about this? Why was I Created? God has need of me? Don't see God down here walking in my garden talking to me..face to face... so perhaps there was need of a soul/form to take care of the planet... perhaps...the planet needed to experience humanity and you and I volunteered for the job... and here we are...desperately trying to figure out what's over there, when we are here...
If that is so...is it also possible..??? that when we were over there, we were desperately trying to figure out how to get over here??? and that's how we came to be here??? Just a thought....

My understanding of the meaning of "God" in the quote as a personification of "ALL THAT IS", or the PRIME FORCE of the Universe. Whether Dr. Holmes meant it exactly in that way, I am not sure.

In other words, there must be a reason for my existence in this form, in this life, in this reality.

Thank you so much YetAnotherSeeker for welcoming me to the forum. And thanks to all.
Brother I am glad to have read your response, and I wish you more.
"God has need of me, or else I would not be."
Brother Y.A.S What if "I have need of God, or else he would not be".
Is that quote about God's needs to justify my BEING ? or that is just a part of a bigger plan ? regardless both of that. By knowing God's need, is knowing God already. And knowing what I need, is knowing myself already too, otherwise one of the two is not truly known, either me or what I need, and either God and what God needs.
Giving in that Ernest Holmes does know what or who God is, aren't we suppose to conclude it all there and then by Holmes. Or is that quote was yet another emotional thought.
I think we can count the people on earth today who do not have at least few or more discription of God, 72 names, muslims have 99 discribtion of God alone, Christians Claim knowing the son of God which he is one with the father yet they do not know the father. and all religions too, millions of books have spoken about God, yet none has persuaded the others, even themselves they have a doubt within themselves who or what God is!!!!
So relating the need of God to my being is not logical bro.

ASL bro there was no creator for the universe, but now there is only ONE for only our neverending happiness.

Hi, mindandheart.

Welcome to the forum!

I posted the question because I found the quote by Ernest Holmes to be intriguing:

"God has need of me, or else I would not be."

By no means do I feel I have completed my knowledge about this life, nor am I extremely unhappy about my existence. As a matter of fact, I feel pretty much the opposite of those statements. I am constantly searching for answers (as indicated by my handle) and I usually consider myself a happy person.

I think it is a good question though, because as you indicated, it can be asked either at the beginning of one's inquiry into "life, the universe, and everything," or at the end, if one ever arrives at the end. Personally, I hope that I never arrive at the point where I have no more questions to ask. I would either be very assumptive (that I know all the answers), or very indifferent. I have a wild curiosity and a vivid imagination. Everything I believe is tentative, even my belief in my own existence.

I believe the question was " Why was I created ? "
What an amazing question, because it feels that you have answered all other questions and have completed your knwoledge about our life and now the next question that you are throwing at yourself and us , Why was I created ?. why and how did you come up with that question ?...but for sure that question makes me feel you either have answered nothing before that question, or extremely unhappy about your existence.
If one the above answers apply to you let me know.
There was no creator, we can not add to the existence, but for sure we can put things together and when we are done we call it " creation".

Chip,
Then the question still remains-why do 'I'(which only exist as 'Awe'),keep creating myself? Wait..I am beginning to see-nothing has been created-only a dream of eternal Seeing.
It is ironic though that Awe sees what my ego had wished it to be.
This moment is Awe (All) there is. No creating when there is nothing created.
Thanks, Chip. You too, Starion. I simply had a 'moment'..lol.

The universe is all time, all places, all experiences simultaneously, all together, everything, everywhere. When we take form, rather like a microscope we have the unique ability to focus on one moment, one place, one time, one experience and enhance time and place... In form we can play with time/place in a singular way. In other words, we can play with time and place..spend time/think/expand/cogitate/consider/decide/mess around/ whatever.. Out of the body, without form, all things come at us at once... The All is everything now.

First a clarification, the remark about the parrot and Pavaroti was not a poke at shin. i thought his post was insightful, as so many are.

AP... if gold can be as a stone, then a stone can be as gold, referring to the Gita. An equality between a parrot and a man.

AsI...

Your story is already complete, as it was the day you were apparently born, and at the end of this appearance you have already died, and the event of your birth is now in abeyance because what you call the awe has focused on it. All relativly exists simultainiously. Let's put it another way, AsI, you are the needle playing your record.

Within our time and the time of IT can we say that this big bang we talk about and emmanation are really one in the past ( the big bang) and what we call THIS time was future to it? By our terms the universe is millions or billions of years old, perhaps in IT'S time ( relative to ours) it was a second ago, and it examines all the results in it's 'blink' at the same time.

"I was looking back to see if you were looking back to see if I were looking back to see if you were looking back at me."

And what is seen? By god, it's APs wet camel!!!

[The question should read "Why do I keep on creating myself?"]

A very good question.

(IMO)-Everything is a projection of my mind. It is the same for each. Did 'I' create what is seen. No, I am not the 'doer'. Moreso, there is not even a creation-only simultaneous Seeing. So, one comes to first think that one is God. Then, one finds that one's self is only that of 'God'. My hands are not mine. I am only the eternal witness.

BUT, am 'I' a participant of the [creation] 'seeing'? I know that there seems to be karma. If that be so, then 'I' am part of the [creation] seeing.

I cannot create myself, but there does seem to be something like that going on. The process of awakening verifies that. Now, did I do that or did 'God'? 'God would be me but I who do not exist as a separate identity.

There appears to be a fine line here.

What has set predestination?

'God', or Awe as I would rather use the term, has done this.

I am not Awe..but, yet I see and witness.

Awe cannot be outside myself.

So, 'I' have done this and yet, 'I' haven't.

Chip!?

""God has need of me, or els I would not be."

Here comes the bucket of cold water.....if god has need of me it can go suck an egg. if i am here to fullfill some god desire there is only a hairs breadth between god's need and it's frustration at the need not being fullfilled and a god whack across the chops for not fullfilling it's desire..i think it's called sin.

Let us make god in our image.

shin..." Now that Pavarotti has died, is the world a much worse place? If he would not have lived or sung, would it be a much worse place? My answer is No to both questions."

Just heard today shin that Alex, the african grey parrot died, the one that demonstrated such intellegence it caused science to re examine thier thoughts on animal intellegence.

i salute thier passing appearance, Pavarotti and parrot with equal appreciation.
