Shin: adding this... All predatory animals, except man give the "victim" time for last words before that final "crunch". In the predatory world, weapons are equal. In man's world, not everyone is armed.

And Shin, that awareness is this! If you kill...ie cats killing mice etc, Predatory animals know by instinct that..if you kill you acknowledge that also you are aware that you could be killed by something else on the food chain.

My short reply is that in order for something to be transformed it has to be on a different level. If not we can only talk of 'it' being absorbed or transferred, but never transformed.

you don't need me to explain it. think about what you said, about life being transformed...you have just made it a good thing, if someone is starving to kill someone else, if they intend to eat them...

so in africa, where children are starving, and they have no other food, they can use one form of life to sustain another...and in that case...murder would be a good thing...and the victim would live on through the one that murdered then ate him...

this is the problem you run into when you have good and bad...

~star,

{food supports life shin, yet food(life) must die to be eatten...
so, destroying one aspect of life is bad, but using this destruction of life to sustain life...is good...}

In this case you do not destroy life, you transform it. Living food energy into life energy of another and higher form (though sometimes I wonder). It is the way this world is made up. Evolution is the development of higher, more sophisticated and complex organisms. To 'kill' plants or even animals in order to sustan a developmental process is a legitimate use of resources. What sets it apart from the illegitimate use is that it is life-sustaining, not arbitrary and not self-seeking only. There is an awareness, at least at some level, that whatever is killed will live on through you.

ego is the source of all morally relative judgements and as such is as real as those judgements... in the moment they exist and are real to the individual... outside that moment and the individual they are as real as a you or an i...

Shin said:

"As I am on the road just a brief comment.
The foundation for the evaluation of good and evil, right and wrong, in this world, is biology, and life. That which supports life is good (right), that which destroys it is bad (wrong).
There are objective measurements in order to evaluate."

shin~good to see you post; have really missed you! :)

food supports life shin, yet food(life) must die to be eatten...

so, destroying one aspect of life is bad, but using this destruction of life to sustain life...is good...

chips post dealt with this... :) one leads to the other...cyclic...

other examples come to mind also...

could you expound on these objective measures...

beckett... you know when i first stumbled across the old spiritual discussion forum much like yourself i found difficulties understanding what some there were expressing... it was something that was so foreign to my apparent reality that it made no sense what soever... the question if good and evil are not real then why do they exist, why do i experience them arose time and time again... the doubts and questions were many... since the penny dropped so to speak this apparent life has never seemed so clear... you know the funny thing with all this... it has always been there... it is true that the very thing you seek is in the last place you look... in other words you are what you seek... your queries indicate that you can already see this... :)

after my reference to the apple yesterday i decided to go and read the bible that my mother had recently lent me... it was the first time i have really read genesis since i was a child but you know what the apple from the tree of knowledge, the tree of good and evil, is what seperated adam and eve from god... go figure... :)

Yeah, that is true. How can the Truth change with change in the way of teaching ? The part of Physics taught in Physical Chemistry remains same what we learn in Physics. Jnan Yoga & Karma Yoga are same in essence. IMO, Jnan Yoga is direct in its approach.
