what is God? a voice in Abrahams head...lol

recently watched a documentary which focused on the military tactics of Israel, beginning with Abraham, as portrayed within the Old Testament...many of the so-called miracles, including the parting of the Red Sea, were looked at from a war-time, military strategic aspect, and i have to say it was an eye opener in more ways than one...

the documentary stated that military experts have been studying the Old Testament from this view point for many years.

what was amazing was that after obtaining the ten commandments from that burning bush, Moses went on to train Isralie soldiers for those forty years in the desert, into a army of killers and thieves...led by Joshua.

i don't recall the name of it, nor can i find it via google...yet...

if anyone has info on it, please post it here...

i am just so amazed at the 'idea' that this entire 'God' thingy, including the Bible, and all religions, began with Abraham hearing a voice in his head...

in this day and age, would we not get him to a psychiatrist quickly, and put him on some meds? lol...

what is also intriguing, at least to me, is the way the Israeli military seems to still be the war machine that fuels the direction of the world...

has anyone asked the question lately, why are we really in the Middle East?

    ~star,

have you come across the theory of "the contentless mind"? It basically proposes that the people living abouty 2500 years ago had no 'inner life', their mind was without inner content. So, everything that occurred happened outside of them. The world was therefore full of mysterious beings and happenings.
This also makes the Buddhist idea that mind is treated like a sixth sense understandable because it was used like an organ of perception and not as one of internal processing like we do today.
It then becomes understandable that a voice can only be a voice outside of themselves, it is an angel, a demon, or maybe God.
Since everybody had a similar 'operating mode' they would not find these beings speaking to a person unusual at all.

hey shin, how interesting...i have not heard of that theory, but will google it and check it out...very interesting indeed...

i watched another program on the history channel concerning the idea of UFO's during biblical times...it was also very interesting...

when you stop to really consider all of the information and ideas that are out there, with an open mind...not necessarily accepting or rejecting...the truth seems to be apparent beyond the words that are used that limit understanding because of our preconceived ideas concerning it...

simply put, if the fall was psychological, a kind of forgetting if you will, from the Totality of what is, then there would be no recollection of the creative potential of what i call awareness...so it would make sense that it would have to 'evolve'...backwards...if that makes any sense...lol

i am beginning to see the role of religions in a very different light now...and the more i learn of my 'true condition', my 'human' existence, the more my understanding evolves and opens up, so-to-speak...

thanx for responding...i am sooooooooooooooooo grateful that my mind is no longer stuck in box of it's own ideas...lol...truth is everywhere...and of course nowhere...lol

    always, star...

I think I caught that one too, on the rerun...

Have you ever come across a book called "Uriel's Machine?" It ties in biblical stories (the Flood, Ezekiel's wheel, and others) and some of the prehistoric Stonehenge-like structures in the British Isles with what could be called flying saucers, or the race of giants. Really interesting stuff.

i find it very interesting also...hey, it is just as believable as anything else that the imagination can come up with...lol

on another note, i may be in Denver for the DNC...no, it wont be UFO style...i will fly like normal human beings...on a plane...rotf...

I know what you mean, Star! Things are extremely busy. Some say it's the "old" world going manic before the "new" world manifests in 2012.

Thanks for the contact info. Watch your email.
