From Wikipedia's list of the meaning of singularity I take 2 which are applicable here:
Gravitational singularity, a point in spacetime in which gravitational forces cause matter to have an infinite density and zero volume.
Mathematical singularity, a point at which a given [mathematical] object is not defined.
Infinite density and zero volume means that there is no space, and no separation possible, which by necessity leads to objects being undefined.
This is the normal and natural state of our existence, which led me to say in another thread that the phsyical is spiritual and the spiritual is physical. Any distinction between the two is quite arbitrary and therefore has little or no 'truth value'.
This is beautifully expressed in these words, which form part of instructions for a cook:
"Handle even a single leaf of a green in such a way that it manifests the body of the Buddha. This in turn allows the Buddha to manifest through the leaf. This is a power which you cannot grasp with your rational mind. It operates freely, according to teh situation, in a most natural way. At the same time, this power functions in our lives to clarify and settle activities and is beneficial to all living things."
When we begin to handle leaves of green as "mere" leaves of greens and make Holy Buddhas out of Buddhas, that is when we lose contact with this power and things becomes murky and muddled.
Stepping back from our mental agitations is the means "whereby we turn things even while simultaneously we are being turned by them.
But what do we step back into, other than into our earthly existence, into our physical being?
