Where do you see beauty? What is beauty?

Are you blinded by seeing it only in sunsets and rainbows, or do you see it in rodents and squalor?

Today I saw it in nature...a friend and I went to the park and watched the sky change with winter colors as the sun disappeared from view...it was gorgeous...for the first time that I can recall, I saw an aqua color...a beautiful green across the sky...my friend asked me if I thought it was due to the recent Earthquake...since both of us realized that we had never seen any green in the sky...ever...

Shrugs...then we spent some time discussing whether or not it was possible that the governments could be testing weapons and causing a lot of what has been occurring...

    Who really knows?

Wishing all of you well, Star...

I have seen green skies before, they usually indicate a hail storm from my experience.

Was the sky itself green or was it clouds?

it was the sky...no hail though...

That is interesting. Can't see I have ever seen a green sky like that before.

As an American, how does it make you feel that your government holds a gun to the worlds head to maintain its power?

This is not a free country anymore... these psychiatrists and government, and parents have manipulated and made threats and actually carried through on their threats just because of me speaking the truth and them wanting to cover it up

Actually this country was founded on liberty, justice, and independence... and i bet alot of good people in this country still believe in that

Ahh . visiting Boston and walking the freedom trail this summer. Just booked the bed I'm going to sleep in this July. What is the freedom trail and what did it mean to the people that walked it going back to 1624? What happened in Boston Common? Why is that so famous over the years? Why did the Boston Museum of Fine Arts acquire so many great pieces that it did?
Im not from your country , but Im excited to explore it..

We can feel powerless at times, but remember you don't have to change the world, you only need to change yourself.

Why do we focus on the world then? Because it allows us to pretend that we are working towards change, while avoiding real change where it matters and where it can be done.

We play at being powerless because we do not want the responsibility of power.

To a degree yes, however personally I feel that it is quite selfish to think only of yourself. In saying that if that is how you view the world, as yourself, then I also accept that as an expression of ( (... . ...) )

What is beauty? As an artist i've asked myself that question a number of times...each time the answer is different.

Being a highly visual person i find it maily in the things i see, but not exclusivly so, tho mostly it leans toward what is called 'nature'

The smell of vegetation under the hot sun of high summer.
Seeing The light and shadows on a weathered wooden fence post
The sound of a distant meadowlark on a quiet country road.

Beauty like anything else is highly subjective. However one component of it is appreciation, and a receptivity, an openess to the moment...

Speaking of appreciation....hello again everyone, am smiling to "see" you here.

Ahhhh, i see the question was accuratly, " where is beauty?"

In which case i'd have to say, most people would not smell the vegetaion, and the fence post would not be worthy of notice and the quiet country road would be scary to most city people. It does not make 'me' special, it simply tells me our experiences and associations with what we sense are different, so beauty like anything else is an inward rsponse.

Very pleased to see you chip. :o)

I quickly passed through before and noticed your input, which warmed the heart.

Anyways I was just sitting at work and bam, the thought that beauty only ever arises within, or is "an inward response", arose.

Of course the synchronicity of returning to see just that written brought a smile to the face. :o)

BTW, the question was based on externalisations, as opposed to internalisations, when I posted it, although it is even more accurate to apply the neti neti approach to the subject, to reach the object, which would lead us back to square 1.

Anyways gots to get back to work...

    :o)

    abby,

Your gonna have to dock yourself if you keep doing this on co. time.

In relative terms, i suspect the inward response to beauty is not the same to the worldly as to an everfree, just as from one to another. What is more interesting is how even if the everfree sees all that the worldly sees, the definition of what is seen, will seldom if ever... be one and the same. Even though the everfree can be empathetic to what is believed by the other, what is shared is as much an illusion as what is seen yet an illusion.

Do ya see what i'm saying, seeing... thinking!!

Hey chip, How are you and the old man doing?

Thanks to both you Abby, and you gates, i had this thought, or memory, when there is something percieved as beauty, i forget for an indefinite time, what it's name is, what the object is called, what it's function is.

    i find that interesting.

Hello ladies...thank you for the hugs star.

Seems all goes well with you both.

Thanks for the hugs star, and back at you and some for Rose as well.

The body is doing better....i mentioned to star about a year ago i was having physical difficulties. The doctors usualy do me little good. After they rule out the most obviouse and are stumped i go my own way.

It's an odd thing tho, to stand in the midst of plenty and contemplate your own death by....starvation. A little glimpse into some mass consciousness of third world countries.

The computer and all the research i was able to do on it gave me a new education into celiac disease. And living the lifestyle gives insight into how food is processed according to politics, and what goes into it. I've had to learn to cook all over again.

On a lighter note......we are new great grandparents of a chubby cheeked baby boy.
We have moved to a little rural town, that is blessedly about 30 years behinde the times.
People here love thier dogs. And when anyone in the 'hood gets a new dog, all the neighbors come out to meet it when ya walk it. Neighbors will stand outside or on the corner and shoot the breeze with each other.
    It;s kinda cool.

After nearly 43 years with the same ph number and zip code it took me 6 months to fix the new one in my head.

We know the city clerk by her first name and she knows us by ours. City hall has a raggety ann doll and a little bench with flowers on the business counter, for decoration.

We had the house sided and it was the big news in the barber shop, the car dealership and the lumber yard. Everyone in town drove by at least once and gawked. Some stopped and complimented us on the color choice ( am giggling now) The dumpster was picked but only afer the picker asked permission first. People here, if they don't want something will put it on the curb and someone will take it. Have seen baby furniture, porch furniture, appliances and a sofa go.

The newspaper is weekly, 6 pages long, all about school sports, civic club news, who got awards, and the front page is nothing but charity news and charity drives. These are very generouse poeple.

It's a hoot living here. Am loving it.

Oh Chip, it sounds romantically wonderful! I am inlove with it already! I am so happy that you feel well enough to post allowing us a little look-see into your world...You will always be our Beloved Chip...

I will probably be posting more here; the Gaia Community where I have had my blog for some time is shutting down. I have also directed some of my friends from there this way, so the traffic might pick up...you never know...I will always come back, b/c I know that all of you are peeking in from time to time...b/c there is no place like home...and all of you are my virtual home...

It would be nice if we had quote features, bold and italics, sigh...you never know...but we made do a long while without it, we could do it again...

There are a lot of new and interesting things happening on the Consciousness front...the final frontier...I am still a student of TSK, Time, Space, and Knowledge...I really love experiencing the aliveness of time and opening up to space...as well as enjoying the joy of being...gol...

Chip, how close are you to Nashville? I am going on a road-trip soon...to Canada, and then from there maybe to California, North Tahoe...I might could stop in and have a spot of tea...gol...

Oh and Congratulations on that beautiful great~grand~baby!!! Awesome...

I love you much dear Chip...may the road continue to rise up to meet you...may the sun bow in your presence...and may the moon dance with you and share all the mysteries of the stars...

Much love in joy, always, Star...

Whenever you write of your life star i feel a nice glow that all is well with you. In the early part of your recovery the honesty you expressed to me behinde the scenes gave me such a look into the abyss you were trying to rise out of i will never forget it.

Maybe at the time you didn't realise it, but it was a reciprocity thang, i recived an education i would otherwise would have never had the opportunity to know about. It touched me deeply and made as deep an impression on me.

So, it has been 4 years ago? Am smiling because you are well on your way to being that mature woman who will be that old lady full of piss and vinegar and compassion.

More then dancing with the moon or the mystery of the stars, is the dance we all do with one another and the mysteries of humankind, endlessly, wonderously, facinating.

YAS! That's gotta be you! Hello hello old friend from the crazy days. Forget the angel in the rafters? never! And a loverly angel it was too with it's hairy arms and hairy legs. That we can remember and laugh is also beauty.

YES...this is the one I am learning little by little...to be fully engaged in this human dance!

I spoke to Mystic, and he is planning something for us...something special he said...

Ah, yes Chip...four years on May 7th...when I tell my story, I talk about spiraling out of control...and always say that this was about the time that my good friend Chip started back praying...LOL...for me...

I've gone through several things you went through...I had such a resentment towards religion and God...YIKES...it is so ironic the similarities of the journey...the shadows have to be worked through...at least it was so in my case...and still...
